"The Minotaur is a testament to the pragmatic nature of the Aerilan people; you build a ship, give it plenty of armour, and fit every other spare inch with guns. It is a cost-effective fixture for fleet groups looking to bulk up their firepower."

Characteristics

Type: Gunship

Armament

Turrets

Top
Heavy Turret x6
Range: 5250 m
Fire Rate: Very low
Accuracy: Low
Damage: 2

These can shoot in all directions above the ship - forwards, backwards, left and right. The turrets are able to fire straight up at targets directly above the ship.

Bottom
Heavy Turret x2
Range: 5250 m
Fire Rate: Very low
Accuracy: Low
Damage: 2

These can shoot in all directions below the ship - forwards, backwards, left and right. The turrets are able to fire straight down at targets directly below the ship.

Front
Heavy Turret x2
Range: 5250 m
Fire Rate: Very low
Accuracy: Low
Damage: 2

Mounted top. Can fire on ships significantly above, but cannot fire on ships significantly lower, especially if close, due to angle. Unlike the top turrets, these cannot fire on ships directly above.

Left
Light Turret x6
Fire Rate: High
Accuracy: Medium

Overview

With its assortment of medium and heavy turrets and decent armor, the Minotaur gunship can dish out devastating damage from a broadside, and take it's fair share of hits too. However, with no munitions or squadron slots, you'll be relying on other vessels to bring these vital elements to the fight.

Strategies

Line Up Broadsides For Devastating Damage

Although the Minotaur has two forward facing guns, the six side turrets are far more effective. In addition to this, the top and bottom turrets can also fire to the side. This means the Minotaur can unleash six medium turrets and six or two heavy turrets at a single target during a broadside.

Attack From Below

As noted above, the Minotaur has six heavy turrets up top but only two below. Make sure your enemies are above you and in the sights of the top turrets.

If you need to retreat, consider moving up top as you move away, as the Minotaurs bottom armor is somewhat stronger than on the top.

Turn Aggressively

While the front facing heavy turrets are less effective than those at the side, they can still deal damage. Therefore if you need to turn around during an engagement, do so in a way that the front of your ship points towards the enemy and can fire on them, rather than away. In addition to this, the rear armor on the Minotaur is relatively weak, so try to keep this shielded from opponents.

Beware Missiles and Fighters

With no squadrons or munitions, the Minotaur has no defence against the missiles Cylons are so fond of. Therefore, it's a good idea to include other vessels in your fleet that can deal with them. Consider positioning your Minitaur behind a Battlestar flak wall, or assign Vipers or Sweepers from a carrier to defend it.

Similarly, if there are no friendly Vipers to deal with them, enemy squadrons can wear down a Minotaur over time. Try to make sure you have fighters in your fleet to deal with them.

Don't Get Overwhelmed

While the Minotaur has relatively strong armor, it can still get focused down quite quickly when facing strong opponents. As you are trying to line up the perfect broadside, the enemy will be doing the same to you. Pay attention to your armor and move away to a safer position if needed, or try to let stronger ships such as the Artemis Battlestar take the brunt of the enemy fire.

And that's it. EzPz!
